Do you mean "window size"?

Note that if you File > Close, Audacity reduces to a mimimal menu. You have to use File > New, Open... or Open Recent.

You did not attach a screenshot. Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=64936 .

Installation does not change anything unless you initialise the audacity.cfg settings file. To do this, quit Audacity, open Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder and type:

Code: Select all

~/Library/Application Support/audacity/
Open audacity.cfg if it exists. Select all the text and delete it. Then type the following at the top of the file:

Code: Select all

NewPrefsInitialized=1

Save audacity.cfg and restart Audacity.

If you want to use Mac you must accept that an application's menu bar is not part of the application.

There is a single system-wide menu bar that contains the menu for the application that currently has focus.

So if you create a second window for an application, the second window will not have an attached menu bar. If you only have one application window and drag it downwards or resize it, you will again see that the system menu bar is not attached to the application.

If the problem is something else then yes you should initialise audacity.cfg. Initialising audacity.cfg will not make the Mac's menu bar attach to the Audacity application.

Initialising audacity.cfg might solve a problem such as Audacity launching underneath the Mac's menu bar, so that you cannot access the Audacity window buttons.

Perhaps. I do not understand the exact problem that you are complaining about.

It is safer to delete all the text then write

Code: Select all

NewPrefsInitialized=1
at the top. Then save audacity.cfg and restart Audacity.

Extract audacity.cfg from the attached zip by downloading the zip then double-clicking on it.

Copy the extracted audacity.cfg then paste it in to Macintosh HD/Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/audacity/ so that it replaces the "audacity.cfg" you deleted.
