With either stable or 1.36 versions I get "error while opening sound device" using a VXI USB 7.02 "translator" interface with Cyber Acoustics microphone which works fine in Garage Band and on Skype. The device shows up in the Audacity Preferences pane for selecting the sound source and is selected.
Mac is Intel Powerbook Pro running OSX 10.5.5. I have re-installed, restarted, all the usual things.
