auf files?! - urgent question

hello, i cannot save a project i'm working on because when i go to 'save project as' audacity saves it with a data file full of .auf files and just a few .au files. i seem to lose information every time i try to save a file and so cannot progress. can anyone help me please? how do i save a project i am working on, that contains numerous files, as an aup file with a healthy file of data? thanks...

ps: i do not have the solo or mute button selected on any file and none of the files are selected when i save. i am working on an ibookG4, OS X v.10.3.9 and using audacity v.1.2.6

Audacity doesn't Save sound files. It Saves Editorial Production Environments. To get a nice stand-alone sound file you can email to your mum, Export As WAV for a perfect show sound file, or Export As MP3 for a compressed file.

hello koz, thanks, i realise this. i need to be able to save my project as i'm working on it, so that i can come back to it and keep on editing. so, i need to be able to save the files i've layered and edited in an aup file with data file and for some reason can't do this. i keep getting these wierd .auf files so that when i re-open my project is useless. can you help?? thanks...

".auf" files? Do you mean "aup"?

hi, no, i'm getting these wierd files in the data files that look like this: b00462.auf and they're only 16KB ?!?!? what to do? it's driving me crazy. thanks...

auf? - no idea. I just have .aup files, and then in the data folder .au files.

The reason Findelsplurb may have problems is that he has .auf summary files, which are not complete audio data. These probably indicate that the projects depended on audio files imported into the project, which will be on the other computer. These audio files are required to open the project even if you have the .aup file

I think that you need to read that last link that I posted - it explains about "dependent files" and stuff like that.
