Forum rules
ImageThis forum is for Audacity on Windows.
Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Even though I haven't read the post for some days, it seems to have been updated many times and even between yesterday and today, I've already tried the 2.0.5 r12543 (wdmks-disabled) alpha build and reported about it: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 12#p222312

But at the end I am expecting something more official, and not a build with an alpha label which can be found only in this forum, what I call a maintenance release :)

Yes, sure.
I got the r12561 (wdmks-logging) and r12575 (padebug-cache-flushing) builds, is it what you want me to test ?
If so I guess I only have to update the .EXE, can you confirm it ?

It's not going to happen. The problem has been announced on our home page and a link has been provided there to the forum topic that contains the 2.0.5-alpha builds. The link has also been given to all subscribers to our announcements list. Even after that are less than 50 reports of this problem.

I think it would cause more people un-necessary concern than it would help to re-release 2.0.4 with WDM-KS disabled.

Personally I think the announcement came far too late, but there needed to be a consensus in the Audacity Team to announce it.

Please feel free to try the r12575, attach the log and confirm what audio hosts are available. Yes you can update the EXE in your Audacity folder if you wish.

However for everyone so far, the builds that have logging solve the problems where Audacity was hanging.

We don't yet have a solution to the blue screen crashes (which is the main problem on Vista or later) because we don't have any computers or devices that show that problem, so we are relying on people being prepared to crash their computer and on the log being preserved.

Thanks!
