Static while recording

Post by ekajko » Wed Aug 28, 2013 10:23 pm

I recently purchased a MusicHall usb-1 turntable. It has a usb output. I installed Audacity 2.0.3.0, I'm running a Mac OS X ver. 10.5.4. When I attempt to record it will start without problem but after some interval I hear and am recording what sounds like radio static along with the music. The turntable works without problem when playing as the phono input on my stereo system.

Are you going through a USB hub on the way to the Mac? USB audio demands home runs for the cables.

Is the Mac doing anything else while you're trying to capture? Do you leave tons of applications "sleeping" in the dock when you do work?

Restart the Mac and start a vinyl capture before you do anything else. Did the problem clear up?
