vst effects plugins management

Is there a way to condense or remove the VST effects plugins you'd never use? This would be short of removing them the plugin directory?

Not in the Audacity interface - do you want to vote for that?

All you can do (while Audacity is closed) is to edit the plugins.cfg file in the Audacity folder for application data. See here for where it is http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/pr ... tml#stored . If you remove a plug-in from the list, all the plug-ins further down the list need to be renumbered.

2.0.4 (release candidate test version is here ) will have a new dialogue where you can select the VST plug-ins to load.

The dialogue appears the first time you use Audacity, or if you reset preferences, or if you request a VST rescan in Effects Preferences and restart Audacity. So there is no need to edit plugins.cfg now.

It's still a feature request to access and edit the list of plug-ins directly in the Preferences.
