Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
All of the mp3s I have made on Audacity are playing at double speed on Windows Media Player. None of my other mp3s do this. I have never had this problem before, and now all my Audacity mp3s are playing back this way for no apparent reason. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
I have the same problem.
I've just installed audacity, read the documentation, and recorded my first music from tape. It comes in in stereo and everything looks fine as it records in Audacity. However, it does playsback at double speed within Audacity when I click the play-at-speed button (and playback speed reads out as 1.00x). When I export to an mp3 file, that too plays back at what sounds to be about double speed.

Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
I think the current problem is with the recent v3.98 lame_enc.dll.
I can immediately reproduce the problem in Audacity 1.2.6 or 1.3.6
using v3.98 as obtained about a week ago from Rarewares. However
I also think this problem is very recent, because I did have a v3.98
obtained about 6 weeks ago from them which did not have this issue.
For now, please continue to use lame_enc.dll v3.97 from:
http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/
We were intending to upgrade that site to use v3.98, but that will have
to wait until we can ensure we have a v3.98 that works properly.
Sorry for the trouble experienced, but obviously this one is outside our
control.

I downloaded lame v3.97 (I was using v3.93 before) and I still have the same problem.
Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
Some MP3 players do not play MP3's correctly if they are not at particular sample rates.
Set your "Project Rate" (box at bottom left of the Audacity screen) to 44100Hz before you Export.

I should have mentioned that, I have always set it to 44100Hz.

Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
Are you sure you got the file from http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ and that you pointed Audacity to it properly (that is, "MP3 Export Setup" in the File formats preferences says LAME v3.97)?skey wrote:I should have mentioned that, I have always set it to 44100Hz.
And you are setting the rate bottom left, and not messing with the rate in the Track Dropdown menu, which will change the speed?

Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
Yes to all, but where is the track dropdown menu? All my old mp3s from audacity started playing this way one day out of the blue, I hadn't even been using the programme lately. Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
Well if that's literally true, then you have to look for the solution somewhere other than Audacity. The Track Dropdown menu is at the top of the Track Panel, where the downward pointing arrow is:skey wrote:where is the track dropdown menu? Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed
I am a new user but I have the same problem. I had a long mp3 that I wanted to split. I applied labels and then used export multiple files. The resulting exported mp3's all played at very fast speed....I looked at them individually in audacity....they all played at fast speed in audacity...
