usb mic recognised but still getting input error message

Post by metakeeningless » Mon Jul 22, 2013 3:09 pm

i've just got a new usb mic having given up on my last set of equipment. i'm getting the 'input device settings and project sample rate' error message when i hit record.
however, audacity /windows IS recognising my new mic. i've tried all the combinations of sample rate, and followed the help steps from start to end. anyone have any ideas? it seems like i can't record no matter what microphone or set up i try

Which microphone did you buy? For a mono microphone, 44100, 16-bit, mono is usually correct. Some take 48000. If you bought a fancy "stereo" microphone or some other odd device, then that may not work.

One other note that you need to start Audacity after you plug the mic in and Windows recognizes it. Koz
