Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Conversion from PC to Mac

Post by krisar25 » Fri Nov 21, 2008 10:57 pm

Hi All -

I have been an Audacity user for over a year and love it. Here is a problem I encountered today. I used a PC [WinXP] to convert a tape into Audacity file [ver 1.25]. Then transferred that file to my Mac [OSx10.5.5] and used Audacity 1.3.6 to open and edit it, to insert the labels etc. Then I exported 'multiple' to AIFF files. The problems is that iTunes is not able to import the tracks in the library - it sees where the files are, but does not import them into the library. Is there a way to fix this problem? Any help will be appreciated.

Without knowing any more than that, I'd say your sound files are at 44100 KHz sample frequency, so far so good, but 32 bit floating, not 16 bit fixed. iTunes will have no idea what to do with that. I would be using QuickTime Pro to convert them, but I don't know how to deal if you don't have QuickTime Pro. Highly recommended, by the way.
