Post by vivek.b » Fri Jun 28, 2013 5:52 am

i m having bunch of movies in mkv files there are some movies having low audio sound. even though i keep my volume level at 100%. i m not satisfied with it. but at same level some movies audio sound are damn loud. how to level or adjust the volume of those audio files at desired level with no synchronization problem in audio.

Audacity does not handle video, so if you want to process the sound in Audacity then you need to use a video application to put the processed sound back into the video.

Audacity can extract the audio content from many types of video file if you have ffmpeg installed: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown

To even out the volume level in a track you use "dynamic range compression" (often just called "compression").
Audacity includes a dynamic compression effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/compressor.html
