Recording from turntable to 1.3.5

Post by whizzer » Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:48 pm

Trying to record from an ION USB turntable to version 1.3.5 throws up the message ' Check input device settings and the project sample rate'. Have checked all settings i.a.w. Wiki instructions to no avail. No problems with version 1.2.6. Currently recording with 1.2.6 and editing with 1.3.5. Any advice appreciated. Running Vista Home Premium SP2 32 bit.

There is no shortage of people having trouble with USB turntables, mostly fatal troubles. If you found a way that works at all, you win.

And no shortage of people having trouble with Audacity on Vista - your workaround sounds like a good compromise. AFAIK the recording algorithms have not changed 1.2 to 1.3 so you won't get a better recording with 1.3 - but in moving to it for the subsequent editing you do, of course, get all the new features.
