On startup (OR LACK THEREOF) I get the attached message. I am a new user and had just tested the sound input levels, attempted to start a new session and NOTHING.
I had not changed any settings. Any thoughts?

If you have a USB device, you could have accidentally pulled the cable out.

If you have any kind of external audio interface or sound card, you may have to set it up in Apple Audio MIDI Setup before you can use it.

Please try these links:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... l#flatline
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/User: ... ut_devices .

If you need help after that, please say exactly what you are trying to record and exactly how you are trying to do that, including details of how any external equipment is connected to the computer.
