Unable to action any commands

Post by MisPer » Fri Mar 08, 2013 6:08 pm

When Audacity opens, all options across the top left of the page are 'GREYED OUT' and inoperable, leaving me unable to do anything

How do I rectify this?

You probably just need to press the yellow Stop button and possibly also select some audio. Please see here http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#grayed .

I appear to be having a similar problem. When I open Audacity, all commands function properly, but after a short period of time (sometimes as little as 20 seconds, sometimes as long as 5 minutes) all options are greyed out and I'm unable to use keyboard commands. The only option available at this point is to quit Audacity, at which point, I'm asked if I would like to save my changes. When I reopen Audacity and reload the file, the commands all work properly for a short time before the same issue recurs. I've tried both Audacity 2.x and Audacity 1.3.x versions and noted the same behavior. I'm running OS X 10.8.2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've used and loved Audacity for Windows for some time and after experimenting with Garage Band, decided I would much prefer to use Audacity on my new Mac, rather than Garage Band.

If it's the same problem, the same solution will apply. Press the Stop button. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#grayed
