I have Audacity 1.2.6 and recorded a .WAV file on my computer from it but can't get sound out of it when it is played. The .aup file I created on my computer plays fine with sound. Any Ideas.

Audacity 1.2.6 is obsolete. I highly recommend that you upgrade to the current Audacity 2.0.3, which you can get here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

How did your record? If you are using a USB device, see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Playback#usb (note that these instructions are for Audacity 2.0.3)

Yes, I have 2.0.3 now and it does the same thing. I have a GRACE digital/audio recorder that I am transferring some audio cassettes to my computer thru a USB cable and burning them on CD's. I have win XP and it normally plays .wav files just fine.
