When you copy a new effect into the plugins/ folder,
do you need to restart Audacity to see the new plugin?
Or is there a way to have it rescan the plugins folder?

For LADSPA and Nyquist plug-ins you need to restart Audacity.
For VST plug-ins, see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... st_install
