Re: Opening files save in earlier versions
Please be specific about what the problems are including exact error messages.Davecornerstone wrote:I have recorded tracks using version 1.2 & 1.3 etc but I now use version 2.x and I have problems opening files save in the earlier versions can this be done if so how?
There is some help here:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Relea ... 2#Projects .
See in particular:
The 1.3 project format is fully compatible with 2.0.x but there were many projects bugs in 1.3 versions.Projects created by Audacity 1.2.x are partially supported - there is a possibility Audacity could corrupt them. Please make a backup copy of the project's .aup file and _data folder to a new folder before opening the project in this version of Audacity. Once you save the project in this version, it cannot be opened in 1.2.
To be completely safe, export WAV files from your old projects and back up the projects (as above). Then at the very least you can import the WAV files into 2.0.2 and save them as a new project. If you have multiple tracks in the projects, select each file in turn and FIle > Export Selection each track.

Re: Opening files save in earlier versions
If you still have the earlier version installed, then open it from the file tab on the earlier version.
