No input on Audacity

Hello, everyone! I had a problem with Audacity and I a hoping uou could help. When i play a music and hit the record button, the waves are not disaplayed as in the are just startight lines. I tried increasing the volume but that didnt work. I says its recording but no wave is created. I tried sound recorder, but nothing there as well. It used to work before. Anyone with info on this would be aprecited,

Click on the loudspeaker icon near to the system clock (bottom right of your desktop).
Find the "record" settings and make sure that the input that you are trying to record from is enabled and has enough volume set.
