1.3.5 won't play anything

Post by ppot » Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:33 pm

Just installed 1.3.5, dragged in a wav file, press space, and ... nothing happens. The play button is marked as down, the stop button becomes active, the cursor flickers, and a green arrow appears above the cursor.

I have two sound cards in my system: The onboard one which I don't use and an old Soundblaster Live card. If I in preferences / Audio I/O select the onboard sound card as the playback device, the file seems to play, but I of course don't get any sound, since it's not the card I'm using :). If I use the soundblaster or the "Microsoft Sound Mapper" device, I get the above behavior.

Any clues?

Thanks,
/Martin

A couple of ideas come to mind:

Try rebooting the computer.

Have you / can you disable the on board sound card in BIOS?

Try a different sample rate/bit depth (Edit > Preferences > Quality)

Rebooting did the trick :)
