I am trying to use a Soundblaster Audigy Gamer card with Ubuntu Linux to interface with Audacity. Some weird things have happened. When I use the mic input and set it properly in Ubuntu, it automatically comes through the speakers, which doesn't seem normal. Also, when I try to set Audacity to the appropriate ALSA input, i get this message: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." I'm trying to get an operational studio so I can continue releasing homemade albums while taking advantage of Linux and OGG. I'm open to the idea of a different sound card, as the research I did shows some scattered problems with this card, but if so I would like a specific suggestion that is affordable and easy to find.
