My OS is Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I'm using Audacity 2.0 and ION Tape2PC. In Audacity the Interface is MME, output is Conxant High Definition and input is Microphone USB Audio Codec, 2 channels. When I try to record from the ION to Audacity, it's only picking up sound from the microphone instead the USB. I'm pretty sure the settings are correct, but I can't get it to work. I appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks

I believe that the input should only be USB Audio Codec, do you have that as an option, if so please try that

No I don't have that option. The only other one is Microphone Conexant High Definition Smart Audio 221.

momsbaby, i do not believe that the computer has reconized the ION Tape2pc device.

First make sure that the device is plugged in, then turn on Audacity and see if you have the choices that has been mentioned. if not then you will need to go into the sound devices and see if the computer is seeing the device. Audacity will not see the device if your computer has not reconized the device yet

Those are the setting I have. I looked in the device manager and the USB Audio Codec is listed. Maybe I should uninstall Audacity and re-install it.

I just tried recording again. Now it's recording, but only in mono and I can't find the option to change it back to stereo. I don't even know why the setting changed because I didn't change anything.

Is the Device Toolbar set to 2 channels stereo? http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Device_Toolbar

This is what the drop down menus read: MME,Speakers - Conexant High Definition Smart Audio 221, Microphone - USB Audio Codec, Stereo Inp - 2 stereo input channels. I changed it to stereo, but again it's not recording from the USB and when in did in mono I had no sound during recording.

To hear the sound from the USB device through your Conexant sound card you must enable "Software Playthrough" in the Transport menu.

Setting up recording from a USB tape is basically the same as setting up for a USB turntable. See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_t ... _turntable

Software play through is selected, but still not recording and still no sound while trying to record. Do you think I should uninstall the ION and re-install it?
