How to convert a V2.0 project to mp3 if .aup is lost?

The following question are under Audacity v2.0: If my computer's disk space is not enough or I touch mouse or keyboard during "file -> save project as" during "save project as", it will stop to create talk.aup. If it creates talk_data but talk.aup could not be created under "save project as" audacity v2.0, how I could convert talk_data to mp3 without talk.aup? If I use "file -> input -> Raw Data", I could only open one single .au file
of talk_data and its sound is strange, not the English conversion in cassattee tape which I try to convert to mp3. If I use "file -> Export", I could only open one single .au file of talk_data at a time. If I open 10 .au files at the same time, it will create 10 windows and each window contains only one single .au file , which has same Englisg Conversion in the cassattee tape. However, it is impossible to combine hundard .au files and convert them to mp3 because Window 7 could not open hundred windows, where each window only contain one single .au file.

If i am understanding right (?????) then you are trying yo convert from cassette to mp3.

but first you try to save as an .AUP, what i do is convert the whole cassette into Audacity, once in Audacity i just go ahead and export to .WAV files and then MP3. so far i have not had any problems doing this. It is nice to have the AUP files but only if you want to go back to them later withch is nice, But if you are having this much trouble then make sure your cassette tapes are in a save place so you can convert them again if you have to. or after you get a bigger HDD

Assuming you cleaned up your drive to have enough room for the repaired show...

The _DATA folder is the pile of screws, nuts, and bolts that the AUP file uses to build the show. The AUP file is the master control project manager. Without the AUP file, it's going to be really difficult to recreate the show.

Audacity can import .au files normally (File > Import > Audio). They will then import into the same project window, in different tracks and you could cut and paste them together into one track (if they were in the correct order).

It is better to look for the .aup file. Have you tried looking in File > Recent Files in Audacity for talk.aup? Have you searched your computer for talk.aup?

If there is no .aup file and there are a hundred .au files, you need to sort the .au files into time order first, then rename them so the file names run in a sequence. Then you can use a tool provided by Audacity to join them together:

I think you can do that in xplorer² http://zabkat.com/ provided that it was a new recording. Editing or processing will cause the creation time order to differ from the time-on-the-track order.
