Track different after importing

Post by Oldbear » Tue Jul 24, 2012 5:31 am

I recorded a night of club music with Audacity on a notebook computer, saved it as a WAV file and imported it onto my desk computer. When I open the file there are red peak lines everywhere, while there were none on the original. Why would there be a difference?

Because one implementation of Audacity was set up to show clipping and the other wasn't?

When you zoom in on the red lines does the waveform show visible clipping (flat tops) or is the wave merely touching 0dB?

Final, and acid, test: what does it sound like on playback? Does it sound distorted?
