How Do I Convert MP3 to WAV files?

It says I can't open any of my MP3s because I first need to convert them to WAV files. Please is there a free way of doing this?? If not, whats the software and where do I buy it??

It probably says that because they're not MP3s. Audacity opens MP3s just fine, but it may have trouble with other higher compression or modern formats. Try installing the FFMpeg software.

You might also tell Windows to stop hiding the file extensions so you can see what you really have.

-- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ] Hide Extensions for Known File Types (deselect)

To avoid these sort of problems we ask people to post to the Forum board for the operating system they are on. If you are on Windows, read this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219 .

If you are not on Windows, it doesn't apply.

You should follow Koz's suggestion and install FFmpeg if you have not done so already.
