Help for Audacity on Windows.

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".


Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

No Record

Just downloaded the latest version of audacity for windows 7, how ever I can not record, I get the message "no device found". What device does the massage mean?

It means that Audacity cannot find a recording input (device) to record from.

This is not uncommon on Windows Vista/ Win 7 because Windows often disables/hides the recording inputs. In fact it's so common that we listed it in the "Frequently Asked Questions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... ng#Vista_7
