When I try to open FLAC files (in order to export them as .mp3s), I can usually successfully export between 1 and 5, and then Audacity starts crashing. I have found more success with opening Audacity, then opening the files from within the application itself (vs "Open with..." from the file). Restarting the computer will occasionally let me export a couple more, but then it crashes again.
I have read through this thread, and cannot find the Library file on my computer in order to reset preferences.
I have recently upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8), but I had this same problem on Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I do not recall whether I installed Audacity from the dmg or the zip - though I'm inclined to say the dmg.
I can try it again to get the error log, if you would like.
Thanks.

Re: Flac files cause Audacity to crash
The user's Library folder is hidden from Lion onwards.Davyerit wrote:I have read through this thread, and cannot find the Library file on my computer in order to reset preferences.
In Finder, you can just use Go > Go to Folder then type
Code: Select all
~/Library/Application Support/audacity
Code: Select all
NewPrefsInitialized=1
Thanks

Re: Flac files cause Audacity to crash
Thanks. I found the audacity.cfg file, and have changed it to the single line. However, it's still having the same behavior. I've attached the files for the crash reports, both before and after I changed the line.
Let me know if you need further information. Thanks.

Re: Flac files cause Audacity to crash
Thanks for the reports which are practically identical to each other (and similar to those of the original poster).
So we can rule out some things, does rebooting the Mac help?
Do the names of the imported or exported files have anything other than the "result" characters in this table:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C0_Control ... asic_Latin ?
Even if it seems that all or most of your FLAC files have the same issue, is it possible to upload a sample file somewhere and give us the link to it? For example these are some free file transfer services:
http://www.yousendit.com
http://www.sendspace.com
http://minus.com/
Thanks
