PLEASE HELP ... I FEEL INEPT!!!!

Help for Audacity on Windows.

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

PLEASE HELP ... I FEEL INEPT!!!!

I can't figure out how to do this. I have read the tutorials, but it doesn't work. I have downloaded the new 2.0 version. I plug in the USB cord to the Audacity cassette player and the comp. It plays, but doesn't record to the comp. Where do I save it if is does record? I just want to transfer the audio cassette to a CD. I can learn all the fancy stuff later. Do I need more cords to connect? My system is Windows 7. I also called the company. I think that I spoke with Rose. She sent the tutorials, but I just need very step by step instructions ... PLEASE!!!!

If you get stuck, please say at exactly what point you get stuck and details about your equipment and what steps you have successfully done.
