Intermittent echo in track...only on some .aup files

Post by grr » Wed Sep 24, 2008 1:52 am

New to this product but have been playing with it for a couple months. Using a dual pentium pc, Windows Xp SP3, single, powered mic, going a berhinger mixer (powered with 120VAC power supply), using mono port in and out, going directly into PC’s Sound Blaster card.

Some .aup files develop an intermittent echo in several places along the track...and some don’t. I can almost pick them out by the amplitude of the wave form. Some have what appears to be a tall spike (single, vertical line) near where the echo will be.

If I attempt to repair (cut out and rerecord over), I seem to introduce more echo, further along the track.

If I export to .wav, the echo follows.

Software playthrough is un-checked.

Any ideas, please.

I see no obvious reason for the problem. Try this and see if the problem persists:

Download and install Audacity 1.3.5
Set the default audio format to 16 bit 44100 Hz (Click on the Edit menu and select Preferences, then look in the "Audio I/O" tab and the "Quality" tab.

Now record something.
