Help with Audio Levels

We are using clipping as a test device. Under no circumstances should you be clipping or in any way overloading the sound channel. That damage sounds terrible and it's permanent. Never make the red recording meters go all the way to the right or the blue waves all the way up and down.

Throughout this dialogue, VoxDeos has always spoken of a USB AudioBox. Everyone else seems to have been talking about an AudioBox that is analogue connected. Has somebody overlooked something - or have I totally misunderstood one or both parties?

I think we are all talking about this little beast, even if we don't spell it out all the time:

...the mainline input I thought I had put up was in fact the Main not the Input 1 Mic Level.

The "Main" knob is the volume control for the Main Outs. Those are to be connected to an amplifer, powered speakers or something like that.
