Windows 7 64 bit

Post by tbalint444444 » Wed Mar 21, 2012 3:53 pm

Hi,
Is Audacity 2.0 compatible with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and will it work properly on 64 bit?
And is the Lame MP3 plugin 3.99.3 compatible with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and will it work properly on 64 bit?
Thanks!

Hi steve,
Thanks for your answer, and I have another question: Can I use the same installer of Audacity and Lame MP3 plugin for win7 64 bit and 32 bit (I couldn't find installer specific for 32 and 64 bit systems)?

Audacity is a 32-bit application. Under Windows 7 it installs into "C:Program Files (x86)", not into "C:Program Files" (which is the folder for the 64-bit applications).

Hi, I have one more question: Does Lame MP3 encoder plugin (version 3.99.3) create an entry/record in the Windows's add/remove control panel item? So if I need it can I remove this like Audacity (I mean I can remove Audacity from the add/remove control panel item)? I ask this because if a new version available I prefer a clean install (uninstall then install the latest version.)
Thanks!

If you install "Lame v3.99.3 for Windows.exe" according to the instructions here there will be an uninstall option in the add/remove control panel item: http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/man ... .html#lame

I have a newer laptop. It is a Toshiba 64 bit device. Is there a version of Audacity that will run on it?
