At first it worked, but after installing the lame encoder I couldnt record any more. I reinstalled Audacity but cant record on MME or Windows direct sound, with any input option awailable.
I have disabled and enabled the sound options for my soundcard to eliminate other faults.

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Cant record any more
Have you tried Start button...Control Panel...Sound...Recording...Right click in emty space in that tab and tick both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices". That should bring up "Stereo Mix" or something else that implies its the sound card device.
