How to post a question on the forum.

The current version of Audacity can always be found at . Downloading the latest version may resolve your problem.
Please post questions to the particular Forum board that corresponds to your computer operating system as below. This makes it much easier for us to help you.

Please do NOT add your question to the end of an existing topic.
Please DO start a new topic for your question.

When writing your question PLEASE give enough detail to allow others to help you.
  1. Click on the New Topic button near the top left corner of the page:
    button_topic_new.gif (1.77 KiB) Viewed 22820 times
  2. Type a meaningful "Subject", for example "Cannot hear the first track when I record the next".
  3. Type your question:
    • State the exact three-section version number of Audacity (for example 3.0.0).
You can find the full version number at Help > About Audacity (or Audacity > About Audacity on a Mac computer).
    • State the exact version of your operating system (for example, Windows 10 Home or OS X 10.5.8).
    • Please include full details of what you are trying to do.
    • If you are recording something, please state what you are recording, the recording equipment you are using and how it connects to the computer. Make and model numbers are useful.
    • If there is an error message, please state what you did that led up to this, and what exactly the message says. If the message is detailed, please attach an image of it.
    • When in doubt of a detail's importance please include it. Too much information is better than not enough.
    • Click the Preview button to make sure the message is correct, then the Submit button to post it.
    • If you have not posted often to the Forum before now, we will need to allow your message through manually, to prevent "spam" posts. You will be e-mailed as soon as your message is approved and again when it is replied to.
Thanks to the team of willing Forum helpers, most questions on the English Forums are responded to within 24 hours, often much sooner, but please remember that Audacity is a free program and the people that help out are all volunteers. We will do our best to get you up and running as quickly as possible so that you may enjoy the benefits of Audacity as we do.
