Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Noise Removal effect

Post by dbourgeois » Sun Feb 12, 2012 4:33 pm

Using the Beta version in French, I was not able to use the noise reduction feature as explained in the tutorial. I seem only to be able to take the noise profile by selecting the entire track, as oppposed to being able to select a small portion of pure noise in the track. When I select a “pure noise” portion of the track, the noise reduction effect on the menu is shadded in grey. In fact, all the effects are shaded in grey.

Can anyone help me. Sorry if I am not in the right forum.

To apply an effect, Audacity needs to be stopped (not in Playback, Record or Pause).
Ensure that the track that you wish to apply the effect to is selected.
To use the Noise Removal effect, the effect must have a Noise Profile before the effect can be applied.

I've tested this and I can see no problem. I must be doing something different to you.
Please give step-by step instructions for how I may reproduce the problem.
