I just downloaded the v 1.4 .exe file with a view to updating my 1.3 installation, but the messages referring to 1.3 thrown by the installer look funny.
Are these typos or is there a problem with the release file? And should I overwrite the existing installation directory?
Many thanks!

Re: 1.4 Beta Installer Typos?
I wasn't aware that there was a v1.4. As far as I know, the available releases are v1.2 (old and not recommended) and v1.3.14 Beta, which is a very stable level of the code. From where did you download your copy?

I have the flu -- that's my only excuse not reading the numbers properly. Sorry!
Re: 1.4 Beta Installer Typos?
Apologies accepted and get well soon! When I installed v1.3.14 I let it do whatever it wanted to with the previous version (1.3.11 I think it was). That apart, I checked to see whether there was a newer LAME library and a newer FFMpeg library but the versions that I had from the v1.3.11 install were still current as far as I could see. Everything seems to work OK for me - but I do not use Audacity very often for recording; just a lot for sound editing and mixing.Shaky wrote:...And should I overwrite the existing installation directory?

Generally, yes you should, that way it is just "updating" your original installation.Shaky wrote:And should I overwrite the existing installation directory?
Windows can have problems with file associations if you have multiple versions installed.
