Hi,
How do I recover a region of audio that has been silenced? The difficulty I am having with recovering the silenced audio is AFTER I saved it and closed Audacity. Then I open it and find that I made a mistake and need to undo the silence. I have tried to go to "Edit" then "Recover Region," but it usually just "undos" my latest silencing and is not correct.
Please help.
Thank you.
Jackie

I'm afraid you're out of luck. Audacity does not retain Undo information after a project is closed.

Re: How to Recover Silenced Audio AFTER a project has been s
It is possible to "redo" silences after the project has been quit by using "envelope points" to make the "silences". Advanced fade-ins and fade-outs are often made this way.
The envelope points are "handles" in the waveform that you can drag and up and down to define the volume of the track. As long as you don't Tracks > Mix and Render, the envelope points will still be there next time you open the project. On reopening, you would press F2 for Envelope Tool then drag the envelope points back up to restore the original volume. See Envelope Tool .
