hi
i am new on this forum, however i am using audaciti for quite a while. i record audio books (in slovene lang.) in wavelab4.
since i do all the work alone it was perfect. W4 had this great thing. when i was recording and had to stop for sam reason (cough, car passing by etc.) i just pressed space bar and W4 recorder would stop and place a marker at that point, another space bar would continue recording and so forth. at the end i exactly new where the corrections are to be made (so in the sam file, app. length of 40 - 50 min i had from 12 to 35 markers). i cut out the bad parts e voila.
problem!
i had to change a computer and switch from XP to W7. W4 doesnt work on W7. After spending days on forums and different rec. software i ve decided to start using audacitiy for recording. So far i used 1,2 version for removing noise and exporting to mp3. most usefull and consumer friendly issues.
question?
how to approach audaciti 1,3 beta to get this comfortable way of recording? so far i didnt find markers . it seems it would be best to stop recording at every break i make. but then i will end up with load of tracks to clip and stick... (i ve checked help, faq and this forum for a solution) Perhaps i am missing something?
(previously i recorded 16bit, 44100mhz, mono wav files)
best regards dominik

Re: recording
Audacity doesn't have "markers," but it does have Labels. Control-B on Windows. Not only will a label be placed, but the system allows you to type inside the label on the fly as a memory jogger.

Re: recording
You can press the "P" key to pause recording. So P, Control-B will do what you want. Koz
Re: recording
Audacity 1.3.14 is highly recommended.
You can also place labels during recording (without stopping or pausing).
Just press Ctrl + M to place the marker, then (optional) type in any text that you want, then ENTER to close the label text.
If you stop the recording at any time (spacebar or click the stop button) you can resume recording ("append" recoding) on the same track by pressing shift + R.
