Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

reseting after export

Post by mike321 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:04 am

what I need to do is to after export when i click the close box have the procram reappear as a fresh (no audio)project and only close when i click exit on file menu I am using the latest .14 beta. I cannot find the setting to stop audacity closing when i click the box in preferences. running windows xp i have not yet updated the linux box so will use that until i get this small but annoying problem sorted. I use audacity to record reports and shows for broadcast radio and need it on screen while i move from one to another thanks.

There once was a setting which would close Audacity when you closed the last project or clip. We would regularly get complaints about it triggering at the wrong time. I can't find that setting anymore. I close timelines out and then File > New to start over. Is that what you're after?

There's even a hotkey for it. Control-N or Command-N.

I think that feature has been removed due to a lot of complaints from users. However you can still close a project without closing Audacity altogether.
Two ways of doing that:
1) File menu > Close
2) Ctrl+W

To Exit Audacity altogether:
1) File menu > Exit
2) Ctrl+Q
3) Click on the window "Close" button [X]
