When I auto tune my voice it auto tunes my instrumental?

Post by ineedhelpguys » Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:50 pm

I record my voice in audacity. And I autotune it with autotune evo est and then I add my instrumental.
So when I add it, my voice and my instrumental gets autotuned so when I play the whole thing it sounds messed up.
How do I just autotune my VOICE and keep the instrumental playing but not have it be autotuned.
Help?

Audacity 1.2 does not support Autotune.

So you are using Autotune before you add the instrumental and you don't use Autotune after you have added the instrumental?
If that is the case then I don't see how Autotune can possibly affect the instrumental. :?
What exactly are you using and what exactly are you doing?

I'm using audacity 1.3 and I recorded my singing voice.
I used autotune evo est to autotune my voice.
I also added the instrumental to the song I was singing so I could mash them together.
But when I autotune my voice it also autotunes the instrumental track and that makes it sound really bad.
I'm trying to just autotune my VOICE and not the INSTRUMENTAL
Here's a pic:

When I autotune it using autotune evo est it makes both tracks autotuned and it sounds messsed up.

How do I just do it for my voice?

Topic moved to the Audacity 1.3.x forum.

Double click on the vocal track - that will select the vocal track and it will be highlighted.
Apply the effect - only the selected track will be affected.

As a test, try using some different effect - something with a really strong and noticeable impact, for example the "Fade-In" effect. Are you able to apply that to one track only and not the other?

I also added the instrumental to the song I was singing so I could mash them together.
Can you press "mute" on the music track (to the left) and play your voice track only?
