My voice sounds really quiet when I playback! (SOLVED)

Hello

I'm a new user of audacity and have recently purchased a usb studio microphone.

When I first set up Audacity it worked perfectly and when I recorded my voice over an instrumental and played back the song my voice was loud and clear. Now when I record, (I don't think I have changed any settings related to this), it sounds like the mic is far away from me and when, for example, the song I'm recording to hits the chorus or gets loud its like audacity turns my voice down :s

Would really appreciate any help on this its driving me crazy!

Do you have the recording input set to the USB option in the Device Toolbar?

If that does not solve the problem, please give full details of your setup including model numbers. (too much detail is better than not enough)
