Recording from internal soundcard
Hi, I make music using samples from films, youtube clips, television programs songs etc. and do so by recording directly from my internal soundcloud into audacity. I got a new laptop recently and have set it up to do this as I did with my old one. However when I hit record in audacity, the sound goes quieter and a bit muffled like there's a low-pass filter applied. As soon as I hit stop, the sound returns to normal. Does anyone know what the problem might be, and how to fix it? Thanks.

Re: Recording from internal soundcard
You may be trying to record your built-in microphone. You get a show when you do that, but it usually sounds pretty awful.

Some newer computers just can't do this at all.
There are programs which do this no matter what Windows does.
