Importing is not working
I am trying to do some work with something I recorded from a digital recording. I have connected it to my computer through the usb cable and imported it using every option, but when I try to play it it just goes really fast and sounds like one long static screech. I really need to talk to someone who can talk me through this. I did review the online manual and that just confused me even more. I don't even know what they are talking about most of the time. How can I talk to a person?

Re: Importing is not working
Wait here, I'll see if I can find one.
I found one cowering behind the rain barrel.
Hi, Audacity will not import--or open most compressed audio formats properly. They just play really fast and you can't do anything to stop it.
You need to convert to something Audacity understands like Microsoft WAV or MP3.
Now, you're going to ask me how to do that and I'm going to say that I'd do it in iTunes, but I don't know how to do it in Windows. This is where we both search the forum for "Format Converters," or "Sound Conversion."
Ready, GO!

Re: Importing is not working
I think I see a couple of people recommending "Super."

iTunes works perfectly well in Windows (well, almost perfectly ... for some strange reason the Undo function is always greyed outkozikowski wrote: Now, you're going to ask me how to do that and I'm going to say that I'd do it in iTunes, but I don't know how to do it in Windows....

Re: Importing is not working
Never tried iTunes, but both "SUPER" (erightsoft) and "Foobar2000" are good on Windows. Either of these can handle just about all audio formats known to man (or woman). SUPER also supports some video formats. Foobar2000 is also an excellent audio player. Both are free to download and use.
