Help! 1.3.14 install problem!
I have installed several versions of Audacity as they became available, but last night I downloaded the zip for 1.3.14 and after I unzipped it, I tried to run it. Instead of running, I get a FAIL window that says, in part...
"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this"
Reinstalling (unzipping) again doesn't help. Not sure why. I recently downloaded the zip for 1.3.13 and it worked fine, as has all past versions.
Am I doing something wrong on this version? Thanks!

I'm getting the same error. Hopefully we'll have an answer soon. It did download fine to another computer.

Hummm...maybe the download itself goes bad from time to time. I just reinstalled 1.3.13 again (from a zip) and it works fine. Like you say, hopefully we'll get a response here.

Re: Help! 1.3.14 install problem!
I reinstalled 1.3.12, and it will load. I haven't tested recording yet, but it appears that it should. I thought that I had found my problem. I just replaced the drive where recordings were made. But after all was done and said, it still failed... on that machine. The fact that it installed clean on another nearly identical machine made me wonder. Guess it's time to let the developers do their thing.

Re: Help! 1.3.14 install problem!
Thanks Steve. Yes, it is 1.3.14 I was talking about in the my original post above. I mentioned 1.3.13 only as it was also a zip file that works fine for me, so I didn't think the 'zip' part was the problem.
I read the link you provided. I bit confusing for me, but these files...
Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest
msvcp90.dll
msvcr90.dll
...are in my 1.3.14 folder, but I did a search of the windows system files, and the are not there! What would happen if I copied them to the windows system files. And if that would work, where in the system files should I put them?

Basically all you need to do is download the file (64 bit version if you are running a 64 bit OS, otherwise the x86 version), then run it. If you are prompted to uninstall or repair, choose "Repair". Reboot your computer then try running Audacity. Good luck.polkat wrote: I read the link you provided. I bit confusing for me, but I'll download the MS file and see what I can do.

Hi Steve, I modified my last post a bit, and added this. Is this important?

Re: Help! 1.3.14 install problem!
msvcp90.dll and msvcr90.dll may be hidden files or in a hidden folder so when searching for them hidden files need to be included in the search options. Having said that the files may not be present, in which case I think that you may be able to just copy them from the Audacity folder into C:WindowsSystem32 and then reboot the computer.
