Controlling volume

Post by yellowgailybird » Thu Dec 01, 2011 7:14 pm

I am brand new at this. I read the tutorial about enhancing audio. I think it says to click on audio and then go in to the enhancement tool, but I can't get anywhere with that. I just recorded an interview and when I played it back, it was so low that I can barely hear it with headphones. I figured out that I need to set the mic volume lower and then boost the audio when playing it back, however, I'd like to salvage this interview recording. What can I do to accomplish that ?

Select the whole interview by clicking on the INFO panel to the left (stereo/44100). Interiew turns color. Effect > Amplify > New Peak > -1 > OK.

You should watch the Audacity red recording meters and boost the live show so that the loud peaks never go much over about -10 or so. That's easy to clean up later.

You said nothing about the equipment between the actor's lips and the computer.
