Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

If you're on a new Windows machine, you may also have to turn off Windows Conferencing Services. Windows will try to automatically set your recording volume if you don't.

Then you need to use headphones. Live recording and live speakers don't mix.

She isn't doing that because it's convenient. She has to do that in order that the backing track doesn't mess up her voice.

Doesn't the Snowball has a setting for super loud sounds? There is a setting to reduce the volume like a -10dB switch or something like that. Make sure that's not turned on.

All that and USB microphones tend to record low. You can solve slightly low volume easily in Audacity, but you can't cure overload. Once the microphone overloads or damages the sound from clipping or smashing loud sounds, you're dead. That's the end of the show.

The company has one. Terrific microphone for small productions.
