Clicking after I record

I started using Audacity and I recorded some stuff from online. And when i go to playback those files, my speakers crack and stuff and it doesn't sound too good. Is there anything I can do to the meters or settings to keep the audio from cracking when I play it>?

Is the audio clipping?

If the volume is too loud you'll get horrible distortion and occasionally popping sounds. In that case, make sure the recording volume is set at the right level. You set this in Audacity, the control has a small microphone icon next to it.
