Monitoring...

Okay guys this is my first post, so I'll start with this:

Hello. I just started out using Audacity yesterday. And I was wondering how I could listen to what my mics are recording during the actual recording so I can apply the EQ on the mixer correspondingly. I've been trying to search for that function but to no avail. I haven't found it here on the forum. So I'm even curious if it is even possible. (It was possible in Garageband so I was assuming it would be too in Audacity)

I'd really enjoy a swift reply. Thank you in advance. :D

Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [X] Software Playthrough...

Restart Audacity after you change it.
You also need to know that if you click on the red (right-hand) recording meters, they will wake up and monitor the incoming show without going into full record. If you have Playthrough selected, both red and green meters will bounce.

That will give you enough monitoring to get on with.

Audacity will not apply filters in real time. The only real-time tools you have are the ones on your mixer.

And the only way to monitor the show in real time is at the mixer. Software Playthrough is late. There's almost always an echo or delay between singing a note and hearing it at the computer.
