I have been using Audacity 1.2.5 successfully with Snow Leopard to record LPs from a usb turntable. Suddenly it stopped getting the turntable input. It is not recording and I can't even hear the music being played. I checked all the recommended settings on my I-mac several times.
Subsequently I installed OS-X 10.7.2 [Lion] and Audacity 1.3.13 and it still does not work.
I tried EZ Audio recorder, which worked, so I know the turntable output works. But EZ is too simplistic and will not do everything I want.
Any advice?

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Not recording LPs
This wiki page might help
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/User: ... ut_devices
The screen shots are from 10.5.8, but the workflow is the same
1) Test the USB input device using the Sound Preferences panel
2) Make the correct settings in Audacity > Preferences > Devices.
When you get it working in Lion, I'd be interested to know what's different in 10.7 versus 10.5.

Thank you. These instructions worked. I had not selected USB Au
dio CODEC in the AUDACITY recording preferences.
