OS X 10.4.11
Audacity 1.3.13
Input: iMic USB audio system (recognized in Audio Midi Setup screen) identified as 2 channel 16 bit
Sound coming from cassette deck can be heard on headphones
Audacity preferences/Devices/Recording: No devices found; 2-channel
Audacity preferences/Devices/Interface: Core Audio
Audacity preferences/Quality/Sampling: Sampling Rate = 44100; Sample Format = 16-bit
I'm hoping there's a simple solution!
Error opening sound device - record from cassette player

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Error opening sound device - record from cassette player
Try this.
Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is the USB device listed there and does the blue sound meter jump in time to the music?
Make sure Audacity Preferences > Devices is selected correctly and restart Audacity. Audacity should list a USB sound device.
That help? If you change enough settings, Audacity can get behind and require a restart.
