Multitrack splitting?

Post by sreenadh » Fri Oct 28, 2011 12:52 am

I have a project with four tracks. (These are voice recordings for a drama) I want to split all four tracks at a particular cursor position, and then move the parts on the right side aside to create space for some transitional music between scenes. I know how to move all tracks together (select them all and then move) but can't figure out how to make the split apply to all tracks (can only Edit->split one track at a time). Is there a clever/hidden way? I am using 1.3.12-beta but can upgrade if that will help.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Set your cursor where you want the split.
Choose Edit>Select>In All Tracks (the shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+K).
Now the cursor spans all 4 tracks, and when you choose Edit>Split, it will split all tracks.

If you want to selectively split only SOME of the tracks, that's also possible, just a little trickier.
Select the tracks you want - use SHIFT to select multiple tracks.
Next, type in the split time into the Selection Start, and the same time into Selection End (that gives you a cursor at a single point in time).
Then choose Edit>Split and only the selected tracks will split.
