Editing FLAC vs. WAV

Post by mdubin » Sat Oct 15, 2011 3:20 pm

Hi:

Since I have been using Audacity 1.3 (beta), all my audio editing has been with WAV files. The other day I found a software which would enable me to burn CDs directly from FLAC instead of having to convert them to WAV.

So now I am trying to load in a single FLAC file which I converted from joined MP3 files in order to edit out glitches.

But I find that I cannot fine tune the area to be cut with FLAC as well as I was able to do with WAV. When I attempt to adjust the beginning of the selection, the end shifts and vice-versa. This is taking away the precision I am used to.

Any ideas on why I there is different behavior when editing FLAC files vs. WAV files?

Hi:

Never mind. I figured out what was wrong and it had nothing to do with FLAC.

Somehow, the "snap to" box was checked. I did not know what that meant so I googled audacity and found out. Unchecking that box restored the editing to the way I expected it.
