where is Location of lame_enc

I am having trouble exporting a "good" mp3 file the speaker sounds like he is under water. I believe the the wrong lame_enc is being
used. I have about 7 in various places. I recently removed and installed the latest Audacity and lame but I never got asked the
question as to where lame is located. So where is this info stored and how can I make it point to the latest lame which I have
installed in the audacity directory. I have tried a few tools to see which lame was loaded but they did not give the full path info.

You should use the lame version that is provided in the audacity download page from where you get audacity: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows (look under optional downloads)

The location of lame can be set in Audacity Preferences -> Libraries -> MP3 Export Library -> Locate...
Restart Audacity if you change that.

Help menu -> Show log can also give you some information about which libs are being used (check it after you export an mp3).

Thank you I had installed the latest of everything and following your instruction
I am hopefully using this latest lane_enc. The speaker underwater still persists
but this should be a separate posting

I presume that doesn't happen in the original audio in the audacity project when you play it on audacity right?

What player are you using to play the mp3 file? Does it exihibit the same distortion if you import it back to audacity and play it in audacity?

If you export as WAV does the same problem happen?

What mp3 export options are you using? (click the "options..." button on the export pop-up window)
